I listen.

When I was campaigning in 2022, I met a group of parents that were concerned

about the traffic around our elementary schools.  They formed a group called “Safe to School”.   I met with them, and I was impressed by their work. The group was made up of moms of elementary students, and they were very organized and clear about what their objectives were.  

I listened, then I acted.

I sponsored “Safe to School” to have a delegation to council.

I arranged for staff to meet with them before the delegation to discuss their concerns.  The delegation was very professional and communicated clearly what was needed. They suggested 26 actions to rectify the traffic concerns.

 

Council directed staff to come back with a report and plan of action.  As a result, 24 actions were endorsed by staff.  New sidewalks were poured.  Crossings painted. Parking was added and no parking zones were made.  Traffic flow improved, and it is a much safer for students and parents, to get “Safe to School”.

 

Parents asked. I listened.  I acted.
Together we solved the problem and made things safer.

 

That is what I offer. 
To listen, work collaboratively, and cooperated with staff and citizens.
